After having seen and experienced the hardship of schlepping around hurling/camogie gear, we finally decided to try to solve the problem. We think we've done just that with our new AH hurling bag.
The concept is fairly simple:
- storage space for at least 4 hurls
- ventilated space for boots
- ventilated space for a helmet
- space for phone/wallet/keys/whatever other stuff you might bring to the pitch but don't want on the pitch with you
And with that we set about coming up with what you see here! It covers all four of those bullet points (hurls on the sides, valuables in the top, helmet in the middle, boots on the bottom) while also having space for a few sliotars on one side and a water bottle on the other. You can also just load the top pocket full of sliotars to be perfectly set up to practice frees so don't let our instructions stop your imagination! Like a bat bag in baseball, the Schlep also has hooks on the back so it can be hung from a fence for easier access to all the pockets.
Please reach out to hunter@americanhurling.com for any inquiries regarding club/bulk orders. We can customize all of the colors on the bag, add your club crest as a rubber patch, and even embroider names so you can tell the bags apart.
If you're based in Ireland and ended up here via a Google search for the best gear bag in hurling, you're in luck! Mycro Sportsgear has a limited number of colorways of the Schlep available to you through their site (https://mycrosport.com/shop/accessories/all-in-1-bag/all-in-1-gear-bag/) and they can get it sent your way much faster than we can.
We've done a lot of research on Canadian shipping and the options that we have available at checkout are the best choices we have found to date. They're not the cheapest available up-front price, but they are the most transparent.
A common issue with shipping goods from the US to Canada is couriers asking for hefty "Collect on Delivery" fees from customers in addition to the price you paid in shipping on the site. The options we have available include customs/duties as well as brokerage fees so the only potential additional fee will be taxes. If you are charged customs or brokerage fees upon delivery of an AH parcel, please contact us and we'll cover those fees for you.
Additionally, the shipping costs for multiple items doesn't increase much over the cost of a single item as long as we can fit them in the same type of packaging. Due to this, if possible, it's a great idea to set up a single order with friends (or to build up a wish list of a few items yourself before placing an order) rather than purchasing separate shipments of single items more frequently.
We're constantly monitoring our options and if any better/more economical shipping options come available we'll be sure to update those here on our website!
For a more in-depth look into this topic, we have a blog post dedicated to this subject available here!
